Sowing & Growing Instructions:
Outdoors: Sow March to May where they are to flower very thinly on the surface of finely tilled, pre-watered soil and cover with a sprinkling of sieved soil. Germination may take up to a month. Thin out the seedlings to 20cm apart if they are too crowded. Keep moist and weed free and they will flower in spring the following year.
Indoors: Sow at any time of year except early to mid summer on the surface of a moist seed compost and seal in a bag. Keep the seeds in a dark, warm place at about 18-21C. Germination should occur in 14-30 days. When the seedlings have emerged, bring them into the light and grow on until large enough to handle then pot them up into small pots (7-9cm). Grow on in cooler conditions in plenty of light but shaded from direct sunlight. In spring, gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions before planting out, 20cms apart in a sunny or semi-shaded position.
After flowering each year, leave the plants to set seed, then pull up the old plants and new ones will sprout up the following spring.
