GROWING GUIDE
Sowing & Growing Instructions:
Outdoors: Sow in spring where they are to flower in well prepared soil free of weeds and raked to a fine tilth. Sow the seeds thinly 6mm deep and keep the soil just damp until germination takes place. Thin out the seedlings as necessary to 15cm apart.
Indoors: Sow thinly at any time of year except early to mid summer on the surface of a moist, peat-based seed compost, eg. Levington. Do not cover the seed as light is beneficial to germination. Place in a propagator or seal in a polythene bag and maintain a temperature of 15-20C. Germination can be slow and erratic but should occur in 10-90 days. When the seedlings have emerged, gradually increase the ventilation by opening the propagator vents or opening the bag. Grow on until large enough to handle and pot up into small pots (7-9cm) and grow on in cooler conditions in plenty of light but shaded from direct sunlight. In spring, gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions before planting out, 20cms apart.
