Hardy Climber (to -5C)
Flowers: Late spring
Height: 10m - but can be pruned back
Position: Sun but will tolerate some shade
Packet of 10 seeds
Sowing Instructions: Sow at any time of the year very thinly on the surface of a good, peat-based, damp seed compost (eg. Levington). Do not cover the seed or exclude light as this is beneficial to germination. Seal inside a polythene bag and place in the fridge at 2-5C for 4 weeks. After this time remove from the fridge and either place in a propagator or leave in the bag and maintain at 10-15C. Germination takes 1-6 months and can be erratic hence the need to sow the seeds as thinly as possible. Check the container regularly to make sure the compost does not dry out.
Growing Instructions: When seedlings are large enough to handle, remove them carefully from the container and pot up individually into 7.5cm pots. Grow on in cooler conditions in good, natural light, but avoid direct sunlight. In spring, gradually acclimatise plants to outdoor conditions, before planting out either in the garden or in pots in a sunny or lightly-shaded position.
