Unusual climber from Japan which exudes the delicious scent of vanilla! Very vigorous, hardy, twining plant that will be semi-evergreen in mild areas with chocolate-purple flowers appearing in late spring followed by strange, sausage-shaped, purplish fruits.

GROWING GUIDE 

Sowing Instructions: Sow at any time of the year very thinly on the surface of moist seed compost (eg. John Innes). Do not cover the seed. Seal inside a polythene bag and place in the fridge at 2-5C for 4 weeks. After this time remove from the fridge and either place in a propagator or leave in the bag and maintain at 10-15C. Germination takes 1-6 months and can be erratic hence the need to sow the seeds as thinly as possible. Check the container regularly to make sure the compost does not dry out.

Growing Instructions: When seedlings are large enough to handle, remove them carefully from the container and pot up individually into 7.5cm pots. Grow on in cooler conditions in good, natural light, but avoid direct sunlight. In spring, gradually acclimatise plants to outdoor conditions, before planting out either in the garden or in pots in a sunny or lightly-shaded position.

Due to phytosanitary regulations we are unable to send seeds outside the UK.  If a mail forwarding service in the UK is used to send your order abroad, please be aware that we will not take responsibility for orders confiscated by customs.

          
 

If an order is returned to us as undelivered by the postal service, we will refund the cost of the products purchased, not the delivery charge. When a service other than standard delivery is used, we will also deduct this from the refund (eg. signed for, special delivery or courier charges).  It is the customer's responsibility to ensure the delivery address on the order is correct.
