Senecio cineraria Silver Dust seeds
Very showy bedding plant producing mounds of divided, silvery-white leaves. Brilliant for filling borders, containers, hanging baskets and as a foliage plant in bouquets and flower arrangements. Senecio is a half hardy perennial but is usually grown as an annual. Very easy to grow indoors and out.
Half Hardy Annual
Height: 30cm, Spread: 30cm
Position: Sun in well drained soil
Packet of 250 seeds
Sowing: Sow in late winter to early spring on the surface of moist, good quality seed compost. Do not cover the seed. Place in a propagator or seal in a polythene bag and maintain a temperature of 18-24C. Germination should occur in 10-21 days.
Growing: When the seedlings have emerged, gradually increase the ventilation by opening the propagator vents or the bag. When large enough to handle, pot up into small pots (7-9cm) and grow on in cooler conditions in plenty of light but shaded from direct sunlight. When the plants are large enough, gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions before planting out in spring, 25cms apart in a sunny spot.
