GROWING GUIDE
Sowing Instructions: Sow at any time of the year except early to mid-summer. Sow very thinly on the surface of a moist, good quality seed compost, eg. John Innes. Do not cover the seed as light is beneficial to germination, then place in a propagator or seal inside a polythene bag. Maintain an optimum temperature of 15-20C and germination should take place from 30 days onwards – some stubborn seeds may take 6 months! Keep checking the containers to make sure the compost does not dry out – it should be kept slightly moist, but not overwet. Note: Germination can be very erratic, hence the need to sow thinly and prick out the seedlings as they become large enough to handle without disturbing the rest of the compost too much.
Growing Instructions: Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle into 7.5cm pots and grow on in cooler conditions out of direct sunlight. When well established, harden off and plant out in a sunny or semi-shaded position in fairly moist soil.
