GROWING GUIDE
Sowing & Growing Instructions:
Outdoors: Sow in late spring to early summer in a well prepared seed bed. Sow the seeds very thinly 1mm deep in drills 30cm apart, keep the soil damp until germination takes place and thin out the seedlings to 15cm apart when large enough to handle. Transplant 60cm apart into flowering site in the autumn for flowering the following year. They will grow in most soils and prefer part shade.
Indoors: Sow at any time of year except mid summer on the surface of moist seed compost, eg. John Innes. Do not cover the seed as light is beneficial to germination. Place in a propagator or seal in a polythene bag and maintain a temperature of 15-18C. Germination should occur in 15-20 days. When the seedlings have emerged, gradually increase the ventilation by opening the propagator vents or opening the bag. Grow on until large enough to handle and pot up into small pots (7-9cm) and grow on in cooler conditions in plenty of light but shaded from direct sunlight. In spring, gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions before planting out, 60cms apart in a semi-shaded position.
Caution: All plant parts toxic if eaten.
