GROWING GUIDE

Sowing Instructions:  Sow at any time of year.  Sow on the surface of moist seed compost, making sure that the compost is moist but not over wet.  Press the seeds lightly into the compost and cover with a very fine sprinkling of sieved compost.  Seal in a polythene bag on a windowsill or place in a propagator and maintain at about 18C.  Keep watered and ensure that the compost does not dry out.  Germination should begin after 1-2 weeks but may take longer.

Growing Instructions:  Transplant when large enough to handle into small pots (7-9cm) and grow on in good light but shaded from direct sunlight.  Repot into larger pots as necessary, then in spring harden off the plants by placing them outdoors during the day before planting out in the garden or in containers.   Provide protection from slugs and snails as they absolutely love snacking on Hostas!
