Very unusual grass which is sure to attract attention! The narrow, needle-like leaves form arching sprays and are twisted like corkscrews. Loves boggy areas so is perfect for the edge of a pond, but will be equally happy tumbling over a container provided the soil is kept moist. Hardy and evergreen.

Hardy Perennial
Height: 45cm, Spread: 1m
Position: Sun

Packet of 30 seeds

GROWING GUIDE

Sowing Instructions: Sow at any time of the year except early-mid summer. Sow very thinly in trays or pots of moist seed compost (eg. John Innes). Sow on the surface and do not cover the seed as light is beneficial to germination. Place in a propagator or seal inside a polythene bag, maintain a temperature of 18-23C and germination should take place in 10-90 days. Note: Germination can be very erratic, so sow thinly and prick out the seedlings as they become large enough to handle disturbing the rest of the compost as little as possible.

Growing Instructions: Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle into 7.5cm pots and grow on at a lower temperature in good light but shaded from direct sunlight. Protect seedlings from frost in winter as necessary and plant out when established either in a sunny position in fairly damp/boggy soil or in a container and keep well watered. (Tip: If planting in a container, place a bin liner or plastic bag loosely in the pot before filling with soil to retain water around the roots.)

Please Note: The seedlings and young plants may not have very curly leaves but rest assured in their second season they will develop proper spiralling leaves.
