Linum perenne (Blue Flax) seeds
Lovely, compact hardy perennial, native to the Alps, with a mass of pale blue, saucer shaped flowers in summer. Easy to look after and drought tolerant. Will flower the first year from an early sowing.
Position: Sun in well-drained soil
Packet of 40 seeds
Sowing Instructions: Sow at any time of year except mid summer.
Sow on the surface of a moist, free-draining seed compost. Do not cover the seed. Propagate at 20-25C in a propagator, greenhouse or on a shaded windowsill indoors, keeping the compost slightly moist at all times. Germination should take place in 14-30 days. As the seedlings begin to emerge, very gradually increase ventilation by opening the propagator vents or the bag.
Growing Instructions: When the seedlings are large enough to handle, pot up individually into 9cm pots and grow on in well-ventilated slightly cooler conditions. When well established, gradually acclimatise to cooler conditions and plant out in a sunny spot in well drained soil.
