Stipa tenuissima Pony Tails seeds
Very graceful Mexican ornamental grass. Forms dense clumps of thin, arching green leaves and bears a profusion of very soft, feathery plumes resembling wispy pony tails. The whole plant moves beautifully in the slightest breeze. Flowers the first year from seed.
Position: Full sun
Packet of 25 seeds
Sowing Instructions: Sow any time of year except early to mid summer. Sow thinly onto the surface of a moist, free-draining peat based seed compost (eg. Levington). Do not cover seed and do not exclude light which is beneficial to germination. Propagate at about 20C in a propagator, greenhouse or on a windowsill indoors sealed in a polythene bag. Germination should occur in 10-90 days and can be erratic hence the need to sow the seeds thinly so seedlings can be potted up without disturbing the rest of the seeds too much.
Growing Instructions: Grow the seedlings on, shaded lightly from direct sunlight and when large enough to handle, pot up individually into 8 or 9cm pots. When large enough, plant out in a sunny position.
