Native, annual or biennial British wildflower, a member of the carrot family, found in grasslands, meadows, open woodlands and on roadside verges.  Similar to its close relative, Cow Parsley, but later flowering.

Upright Hedge Parsley has attractive grey-green foliage and tall stems topped with flat heads of pretty, creamy white flowers often tinged with pink.  These delicate flowers are a magnet for a host of pollinating insects including bees and butterflies.  Looks fabulous among other tall plants in cottage gardens, informal borders and wildflower meadows.

Hardy Annual/Biennial
Flowers: July to September
Height: 120-150cm
Position: Sun or semi shade in any well drained soil

GROWING GUIDE

When to Sow: Sow March to June, or August to September outdoors in flowering position.

Sowing: Scatter the seed on well raked soil, rake in lightly and water.  If sowing in rows, leave 20cm between rows. Germination varies with the time of year and conditions, but generally takes from 7-30 days.

Growing: When the seedlings are large enough to handle, thin to 15cm apart.  To prolong flowering and prevent self seeding, remove the seedheads just as the petals start to fall.  Otherwise, when flowering has finished in autumn, remove the dead plants, shake well to scatter the seed and rake the area lightly.
