Veronica gentianoides Blue Streak (Gentian Speedwell) seeds
Elegant perennial with upright spikes of exquisite lavender blue veined flowers. Perfect for any sunny semi shaded spot in the garden and great as a cut flower.
Winner of the RHS Award of Garden Merit.
Flowers: May - July
Height: 30cm, Spread: 30cm
Position: Sun or semi shade in well-drained soil
Packet of 40 seeds
Sowing Instructions: Can be sown at any time of year except early-mid-summer. Sow on the surface of moist, peat-based seed compost (eg. Levington), and just cover with sieved compost of vermiculite. Place in a propagator or seal in a polythene bag and maintain a temperature of around 20C. Reducing the soil temperature at night aids germination which takes 15-30 days. As the seedlings emerge, gradually increase ventilation by opening the bag or propagator vents.
Growing Instructions: Pot on when large enough to handle into 7-9cm pots and grow in cooler conditions. Overwinter if necessary in frost-free conditions, ie. greenhouse or insulated coldframe. In spring, gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions, before planting out when all risk of frost has passed, 30cm apart in a sunny position.
